Instructions:
1. Prepare the Fries:
- Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into ¼-inch thick fries (similar to fast-food style).
- Soak the cut fries in cold water for 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry thoroughly with a paper towel.
2. Season the Fries:
- In a large bowl, toss the dried fries with vegetable oil until evenly coated.
- In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne, salt, and black pepper.
- Sprinkle the seasoning mix over the fries and toss well to coat evenly.
3. Cook the Fries:
Oven Method (Healthier):
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Spread fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
Deep Fry Method (Extra Crispy):
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
4. Assemble Nacho Fries:
- Transfer cooked fries to a serving plate.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the hot fries (the heat will melt it slightly).
- Warm the nacho cheese sauce and drizzle generously over the fries.
5. Serve Immediately:
- Enjoy your homemade Taco Bell-style Nacho Fries while hot and crispy!
